Generally, cannabis can be categorized into three main groups: indica, sativa, and hybrid. But upon further categorization, cannabis strains can be classified as Kush, OG, Haze, Purple, and more. Each of these categories has a distinct taste, smell, and effect. Cultivators are constantly creating new strains to enhance user experience and maximize medicinal effects.
What Is Kush?
Kush is a strain of cannabis found in the Hindu Kush Mountains, which are the mountains between the Afghanistan-Pakistan borders. The Hindu Kush Mountains are one of the few regions where cannabis grows natively.
Kush is deep green in colour and has shades of purple. The pistils can range from orange to bronze and even rust-coloured, and the buds are typically dense and knotted. As for the smell, Kush varieties have an earthy and floral fragrance, with pungent and sweet fruit-like aromas. Some types have a peppery, citrusy, or herby scent. The flavour is smooth and herb-like, with a taste that’s similar to grape and citrus fruits.
Kush strains are known to be mind-heavy, producing a couch-lock effect. Because of its cerebral effect, many use this variety during meditation.
